Have you ever watched such an astronomical movie that you walk out thinking to yourself, “Wow, from now on I am going to start becoming a better person.” Yet, as reality starts to swirl right back into your head, your motivation dwindles. Well, as embarrassing as it is to say so, I definitely have.
Right now, I want you to reflect on the barriers in your life that are preventing you from becoming a better person. Is it the fear of being judged? Your grades? Family? Laziness? Time? Or even all of the above? If you need to, temporarily stop reading and really try to dig deep in your thoughts. When you have your answers ready, please feel free to keep reading.
Now, I want you to picture yourself overcoming that barrier and visualize your success. Damn, that truly feels good doesn't it? Visualizing yourself overcoming that barrier teaches an important lesson that there is always a balance between the work that you have to put in order to overcome that barrier, and then the success of course.
Based on these ideas, here are 10 of my personal best tips and advice that helps me overcome the barriers in my life:
Prioritize school because knowledge stays with you forever. However, when prioritizing school, make sure that you can still spend quality time with your loved ones.
Some free and helpful school websites/apps include: photomath, khan academy, IXL, prodigy, quizlet, youtube, tiktok (sometimes).
To be more productive, try filming a time-lapse of yourself working. An alternative is to simply turn off distractions by temporarily setting your phone to “do not disturb” and turning your ringer off.
Figure out which type of learner you are. Are you a visual learner? Auditory learner? Kinesthetic learner? Personalizing the way you study based on the type of learner you are is far more effective and efficient.
Please try hard and work hard no matter what. It is an extremely valuable skill to build on. Seriously, hard work always pays off.
Relationships are hard and there can be many misunderstandings along the way. Based on what I have learned, timing and communication is so powerful and can really steer things around. Another piece of advice is not to take things (or even people) for granted.
Have insecurities? Try your absolute best to embrace them. For example, saying “I love you,” or “goodnight,” with a smile in front of a mirror every-night before bed (or even just mouthing it). Trust me, it works! This can benefit you and save lots of time in the future from constantly bringing yourself down.
Always tidy up your workspace and set some reasonable goals for yourself. Jot them down, look back at them a while later, and appreciate how much you have accomplished. When you have accomplished something, it should feel like completing a task in Among Us, as well as a sense of achievement.
Talk to people you feel comfortable with and individuals that are open-minded. If someone doesn’t like you just by judging you by your appearance, it is just because they do not deserve your amazing personality!
Never be afraid to seek help. Everyone in the world struggles (and yes, that includes some of your favourite celebrities). Seeking help is for your own benefit and it is not something that you should ever be ashamed of.
Mental health is far more important than grades. If a healthy mindset is maintained, I guarantee that the weight on your shoulders will reduce and you will focus a lot better. This about it like this: Will one low mark on a test still matter after four years into the future? Probably not. Will consistently saying “You are not good enough,” to yourself still matter after four years into the future? Probably, because a lot can happen to your mental health in four years. Therefore, your mental health matters more.
Time management is key. I hate to break it to you but time is limited. Try not to waste it. Furthermore, regret is a powerful thing, so you should make sure you live your life while not regretting every second of it.
Finally, the most important piece of advice is to always be a better person than you were yesterday.
Your improvement starts now. Right here right now, you can be that person you think of when you watch an inspirational movie. People might start to see you differently, and always in a positive way! In the end, it is all about your mindset, and how you choose to work your way over your barriers with different situations. Thank you for reading, and I hope my tips and advice really helped you. Don’t forget to give this post a like! If anyone forgot to tell you this today, this is your reminder that you can do it! You are loved. You are intelligent. You are amazing, and you are worthy. I believe in you. Stay safe, Kylie :)
