COVID-19 has been a difficult time for everyone Many people are unemployed, financially unstable, and lack the motivation to do anything throughout their day, including me. During the beginning of COVID, I would simply sit on my phone all day and go on Tik Tok for approximately 8 hours until I realized COVID-19 has been a time to teach us to be grateful. Although the majority of places are restricted, I believe COVID-19 has taught us to be grateful for the education we have, the money we have and the shelter we live in. I remember thinking to myself: why am I wasting my time on my phone? Why am I so addicted to my phone? Why do I lack the motivation to do anything? However, one day I decided to change the poor decisions in my life and make better choices.
I began to journal three goals that I aspired to achieve for that day. I was determined to get good grades in certain subjects, such as math and science. Also, I started to go outside more often and appreciate the beauty of nature. It had been really difficult to switch to online learning since I was not used to it, but I adapted. I wanted to achieve long-term goals such as not using my phone for more than 2 hours and trying to drink a litre of water per day.
Additionally, I faced the ongoing thought that I was wasting my potential to complete something productive. I questioned my reasons for being on my phone for so long and discovered that I could utilize that time by making money, applying for jobs and reselling items instead Thus, I decided to keep a notebook and write down my plans for the next day. I determined a consistent routine for myself, which consisted of waking up around 8-10 am and finishing a bit of homework. Once I was done with that, I would hang out with my mother and go grocery shopping. One time, I remember buying a lot of Mountain Dew because it was one of my favorite beverages. Lastly, I would finish off by continuing the work my teachers assigned.
Below I have listed things you can do that will help you alleviate your mood while incorporating these ideas to keep you busy!
